    The UK economy has returned to recession, official figures have shown today. The economy shrank by 0.2% in the first three months of 2012, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) said. This follows a contraction of 0.3% in the last three months of 2011.

    There has been a setback to the government's plan to attract investment in new nuclear power stations.

    That is after RWE Npower and E.On announced they will not develop new nuclear power projects in the UK.

    The Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change Edward Davey estimates the country will see up to one million solar PV installations in the next three years despite the cuts in Feed in Tariffs.
